Rigging
Rigging
The ideal rig we've found for these is a 6'10" Medium Heavy rod, paired up with a 7:2:1 gear ratio reel, on straight 40lb braid. Rig the Skipper Toad "weightless" on a 4/0 EWG Dual Frog Hook with a Spring lock. Thread the spring lock through the head, than insert both frog hook points through the belly near the rear, and Tex-Pose them into the back side of the toad.
Additional Rigging Options:
Single 4/0 EWG (Add Spring Lock to Hook Eye)
Dual Frog Hook 4/0 EWG (Add Spring Lock to Hook Eye)

Retrieve
Retrieve
For most applications, a slow steady retrieve along the top of the water will allow the fish to track the bait and blow-up on it. As the fish blows-up on the bait and swallows it, make sure to pause for just a second to allow the fish to inhale the bait before setting the hook.
Rod/Reel/Line
Rod/Reel/Line
Use a 7' Medium Heavy fast tip baitcasting rod which loads up about 70% into the blank, paired up with a 7:2:1 gear ratio baitcasting reel, on 40lb straight braid.
