3.5" Skipper Toad Jr.
Our 3.5" Skipper Toad Jr., has all the qualities required to capture the attention of a hungry bass, along with the practical qualities needed, making it easy to cast long distances, skip under everything, and easy to burn on the surface. Due to it's size, it will not only get bigger bites, but also numbers of fish.
We use a soft buoyant plastisol, helping keep the bait running on top of the water, increasing the hookup ratio, but durable enough to last over 5 fish/toad. In field testing we found a 90% hookup ratio with the hook pinned in the top of the mouth on every fish.
At 3/8 oz the Skipper Toad can be casted long distances, even on heavier equipment, allowing you to cover tons of water, locating aggressive bass.
The belly is flat, allowing the Skipper Toad Jr. to skip under any overhanging structure, giving the angler the opportunity to place it deep under cover, in places other baits can't reach. We've also added to the belly a "gut" shape, giving it more weight near the rear, which keeps the bait from keeling over as much during the retrieve.
The flanged legs were designed to start-up immediately, and kick at slow speeds. This keeps the bait performing the moment it hits the water, and also allows the angler to keep the bait in the strike zone longer without sacrificing action.
Ideal Rigging: The ideal rig we've found for these is a 6'10" Medium Heavy rod, paired up with a 7:2:1 gear ratio reel, on straight 30lb braid. Rig the Skipper Toad Jr. "weightless" on an 4/0 EWG Dual Frog Hook with a Spring lock. Thread the spring lock through the head, than insert both frog hook points through the belly near the rear, and Tex-Pose them into the back side of the frog.
Additional Rigging Options:
Single 4/0 EWG (Add Spring Lock to Hook Eye)
Dual Frog Hook 4/0 EWG (Add Spring Lock to Hook Eye)
