Our Finesse Covert Rig is handcrafted and custom-built for finesse fishing, with every jig head individually hand-inspected before packaging to ensure proper alignment, a sharp hook, and the quality we expect from our terminal tackle.
Purpose-built for continuous-retrieve presentations, the Finesse Covert Rig uses a premium VMC 60° hook with a thinner wire diameter than our standard Covert Rig. The finer hook is an ideal match for our 3.5" Cross Minnow, smaller Phat Swimmers, and other finesse soft plastics where a pinpoint hook and easier penetration are critical.
The 60° hook eye helps keep the bait running horizontally while increasing side-to-side body roll. Its internally weighted design places the weight inside the soft plastic, creating a natural, slow-gliding fall instead of the nose-down posture produced by traditional forward-weighted jig heads. The result is a more level presentation, increased body roll, and maximum action from your soft plastic.

Simply insert the hook point into the center of the bait’s nose, then carefully thread the soft plastic down the shank, sliding it securely over the keeper at the line tie. Attach the line to the jighead using a Loop knot for maximum action.
Retrieve

Make a long cast and allow the bait to sink to the desired depth. Begin a slow, steady retrieve while continuously shaking or lightly twitching the rod tip, using the reel primarily to pick up slack and keep the bait moving toward the boat. These subtle rod movements make the minnow dart, roll, and quiver naturally through the water while the internally weighted rig keeps it running horizontally. Continue working the bait this way throughout the entire retrieve, occasionally mixing in a brief pause or a sharper twitch to trigger following fish.

This can vary based on the combined weight of the soft plastic and the sized jighead you buy,generally a 6'10"–7' medium fast tip spinning rod, paired up with a 2500 series spinning reel 6 lb fluorocarbon line works well.
